Something I did not realise was that installing a new OS, would mess up my songs on my Iphone…..I really hate itunes. So the old google comes to the rescue, after my initial frustration of thinking I would have to create my playlist all over again, I found the perfect application which will save alot of time and hassle.

It’s called CopyTrans Suite (its free) and has lots of different things you can do, you can use it as an alternative to Itunes for managing your playlists, however all I want it for currently is just to import my playlist from the phone back into Itunes and this lil app seems to do just that. I really do wish apple would just redesign itunes as its a pretty terrible piece of software in the design and the performance of the application. Why cant we just drag and drop files etc? Is that so bad? Apple seems to think so!

*Edit – Seems its not free and limited to 100 songs to import….not sure I want to pay 20 dollah for the functionality that should be free with itunes, so I guess I need to keep searching for a free solution.

**Edit 2 – I found a free app that really does work and was able to import everything from my Iphone into Itunes and it all works fine, the app is called SharePod. This one really is free and it does exactly what you want it to do, I’m still bewildered as to why Apple do not have this functionality with Itunes itself, crazy indeed.

With the arrival of Windows 7 beta, I figured I would like to try this OS out before its finally goes live. Usually I dont bother with beta OS’s as they are not worth it, but there is alot of good things which have been said about Windows 7, so I thought I would take a look.

The first problem I had when I went to install, was that I did not have a basic disk on my second PC to be able to install, and for the life of me I could not remember how to convert a dynamic disk to a basic disk, a quick google search led me to the microsoft page which explains how to do it. I followed those instructions, but it did not work, I kept getting the message “The operation is not allowed because the requested object is in active use“.

To get around this you can do the following.

Start > Run > Cmd Press enter.

In the Command Prompt window type

Diskpart

list disk

Make a note of the dynamic disk that you wish to convert

select disk x

clean

The disk is now uninitialised, and you can use Disk Management utility to convert and format as a basic disk

As it says, you can save your current icon layout and restore them should they ever change.

I’ve used this myself now for a number of months and it has saved alot of hassle from doing graphics card driver updates, so one less thing to worry about.
